Many people have asked me about the method I used to lose the amount of weight I did in the short amount of time in which I did it. A lot of people whom I’ve met in recent years don’t know that I used to be a fat guy. But the people who knew me around 2005 and earlier can verify this. I mention this because I have a story to tell you, a story which details a five year struggle to lose weight and keep it off. It’s crazy, because I was one of the people who tried lots of different diet and exercise programs. On some I saw minimal results, on most I saw no results. After going through this enough times, I made up my mind that I WOULD lose weight, and lose weight quickly. Secondly, I said that if I’m gonna attempt another weight loss routine, it has to be a routine where I lose at least 20 lbs. per month, no starvation, no deprivation, no back-breaking exercising and most importantly of all, I’d look good and maintain permanent results. This sounded like a pretty tall order. Actually, it sounded damn near impossible but I did exactly that.
But before I get into my story of how I lost the weight, let me tell you how I came to that point. First off, I wasn’t a fat guy my whole life. Heck, I’ve been thin for most of my life. When I was 16 years old, I got a job working in fast food. The story should be pretty predictable at this point, but I’ll tell you anyways. When I first got the job, I weighed about 145 lbs. By the way, I’m 5’7 in height. After starting the fast food job, I started eating like a maniac and the next thing you know, my weight shot up to 200 lbs. in a few months. My friends at school would tell me that I’m gaining weight, but I was in denial. I even saw my clothes fitting a lot tighter, but I convinced myself that the clothes were just shrinking and that I was the same size as I was before. As you can see, the denial was strong. I would even see pictures of myself, see how fat I’d become and still be in denial. It didn’t dawn on me that I had a weight problem until after I’d graduated high school. I remember stepping on a scale and watching it read 215 lbs. At that point, I knew it was time to do something. You would think that at this point, I worked my ass off and lost the weight, right? I wish I could tell you that I became thin again and lived happily ever after, but I’d be lying if I did.
Let’s fast forward 3 years to the year 2005. Instead of being 215 lbs., I was then 250 lbs. Imagine that, a guy whose only 5’7 but weighs 250 lbs. Looks like my goal to lose weight quickly didn’t turn out so well. To the contrary, this is where my goal to lose weight quickly got even more intense. I decided that I would do something again. This time, I was serious. So I went out and bought a treadmill and start running for miles every day and night. I also cut my food portions a third, and stopped eating after 7 o’clock in the evening. To be honest, this worked for a while — but I felt that I was losing the weight too slow. Not knowing what else to do and wanting desperately to lose weight, I kept this routine up. Then I started taking diet pills hoping they would boost my weight loss so that I could lose weight quickly like I set out to do. But, needless to say, that didn’t happen.
Let’s fast forward to early 2006 where I was then 225 lbs. In a period of 6 months, I’d only lost 25 lbs. Very fucking encouraging, right? I remember some guy telling me that losing no more than 10 lbs. a month is the perfect route to go. I thought to myself, “Man, if you don’t get the fuck out of here! If I want to get back down to 140 lbs., that means I’d have to wait 8 and a half months to get there. Fuck that!” So, I began to go online and do some research on which foods I could eat in order to lose weight quickly without any problems, what portions, what combinations, etc. When I decided that I was going to put together this diet plan, here are the goals I set.
- I would have to be able to lose weight quickly. I had to lose at least 20 lbs. a month.
- There would be no starvation or no deprivation.
- Exercising would be purely optional. I would have to be able to lose 20 lbs. a month without exercising.
- I would have to be able to keep the weight off for good.
- My final result would be a great looking body with no sagging skin.
After doing some extensive research, I came up with a plan. I wasn’t sure about it just yet, but I had faith that it would work. When I look back on the plan I used and how simple it was, I feel like slapping myself for not figuring this out a lot sooner. That’s how simple the eating plan was. I came up with a method that would increase my metabolism in the first 2 days of the diet, so that I could lose weight quickly the rest of the way. My first week, I lost 8 lbs. Then after that, I lost between 4-5 lbs. a week. People would say to me, “I know you wanted to lose weight quickly, but aren’t you losing weight too fast? Wouldn’t you gain the weight right back afterwards?” At the time, I didn’t care about losing weight too fast. To me, that was the only option. But while I was losing weight at a rapid pace, I didn’t have any of the problems associated weight fast weight loss, like sagging skin. My skin was perfectly firm. Let’s fast forward to July of 2006, I am now 140 lbs. I’ve reached my target weight and I’m feeling good as hell!
Now comes the tough part — I did what I set out to do, which was to lose weight quickly, but how do I stay at 140 lbs.? Not to worry, I was prepared. What I realized was that losing weight was a lifestyle change. It wasn’t about eating properly to lose weight and then going back to my old habits that made me fat in the first place. That would have been stupid. So, change was mandatory. In order to keep the weight off, I started counting the calories of everything I ate. I tried to stay under a certain number per day. This plan worked, but the problem was that I was miserable. I knew there had to be a better way to keep the weight off, a way that allowed me more freedom to eat what I wanted. I knew there was a way and I found it. After finding this way, maintaining my weight loss became a breeze. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t eating like a maniac and remaining thin. I still made a lifestyle change, but I made the change in a way that it wouldn’t deprive me, and at the same time keep my weight steady. It’s been six years and I’ve kept the weight off.
So, what did I do to keep the weight off? To answer that question, I wrote an eBook outlining the exact plan I followed to lose weight. As a bonus, I even included a recipe guide…the exact same recipe guide I used everyday with great success.
